The Premier League has today announced that all fixtures will be be shown live on tv in some capacity until fans can return to grounds.
But for now that means no PPV games, I’m guessing that’s supposed to feel like a win for us small people, because we as fans already pay out hundreds of pounds a year to the greedy bastards at Sky and BT Sports, as well as now needing additional subscriptions to Amazon Prime to be able to watch games.
Squeezing an extra £15 a pop for a PPV game in the Premier League out of people who are in lockdown and may have faced financial difficulties often through no fault of their own is fucking scandalous. Looking to profit from a global pandemic and a countries general boredom is disgraceful. In full Charlie Sheen Wall Street mode “how many yachts can you water ski behind, how much is enough”
The television companies greed knows no bounds, they increase prices every year for the same drivel they served up 10 years ago. I often think ah fuck it I can do without, I’ll just cancel it when my contract is up, but I never do, I like most people will be too lazy to find streams or alternative ways to view sports.
So from my own interpretation when fans can get back into grounds , there will likely be a return to Sky Box Office and BT Sport Box Office games, because when we can get fans back the problem is over right? It’ll be a long time coming before people get back to financial stability when all this is over, make no bones about it. It’ll be a rough ride. So hit them where it hurts, in their pockets, the only place it matters to them.
I hope they never charge extra again for Premier League games, 50 odd quid a month for sports is already enough. Boxing has gotten away with PPV for too long, don’t let football join them.
In conclusion, fuck Sky Sports, and BT Sports too.
