With Brighton beating Spurs on Sunday meaning that if you combined these two teams total points this season they’d still be in the relegation zone, that left me thinking, who the fuck cares. Feel free to insert the Alan Partridge shrugging meme if you want.
Surely the only people who are going to choose to watch this game are the fans of said clubs, people with no affinity to either side aren’t going to waste their time on this garbage being served up by BT sport at 6pm. And even then their fans will only be watching because “that’s what you do when you’re a fan innit” with that being said I highly doubt there will be any real sense of excitement for the poor bastards watching teams with two wins each all season long.
You genuinely couldn’t pay me enough to sit through this one, although I think BT trying to sell you this one being a big game, with the great intellectual mind of Joe Cole bumbling over a touch screen giving us a glimpse of his tactical genius and wonderful insights of his keys to success in the game, could be worth tuning in for.
Let’s hope Joe Cole is on punditry duty tonight, otherwise you’ve just wasted your time reading this and I’ve wasted my time writing it.
I reckon you could let them play with 3 balls on the pitch and no offside rule, the latter greatly helping David Mcgoldrick as he struggles to muster a light jog through a 90 minute game, and after all that, it would still be a draw.
There are no decent games tonight, there are rarely any truly meaningful games in the Premier League, no matter how badly the tv companies want you to think there are, big Monday night football tonight Villa v Brighton. You can see the narrative in this hypothetical “can Villa keep up their charge towards Europe, and can Brighton keep their survival heads above water” don’t be fooled into wasting your time, go to the pub, visit some friends, go to the cinema, have a meal out, do anything but put yourself through 90 minutes you’ll never get back…oh wait, shit.
